The New SADD: Students Against Destructive Decisions
National organization expands acronym, focus to reach more students
BY RACHEL MOORMAN
SADD is a student organization whose primary concern is helping to prevent
students from making destructive decisions. Formerly known as Students Against
Driving Drunk, SADD recently changed its name to read Students Against
Destructive Decisions. Although their main focus remains drinking and driving,
drug abuse, underage drinking, tobacco use and anything else that could be
deemed destructive, have also been added to its agenda. SADD encourages students
to participate in activities that can have positive outcomes instead of those
that involve dangerous consequences.
